With
proper care and maintenance, your jewelry should last a lifetime.
When
not wearing your jewelry, place it in an airtight container - a small
ziplock bag will do fine. Storing separately from other items will prevent
oxidation, as well as scratching of the metal and stones. This is especially
important if your Swarovski crystals have the iridescent coating called
(AB) on them, as these do scratch.
Remove
your jewelry before swimming, using harsh chemicals for cleaning, applying
hairspray, lotion or perfume. After washing your hands, be sure to completely
rinse off the soap, as soap film may make your bracelet appear dull.
To
clean your jewelry, the easiest way is to simply use a mild soap and
water solution. (I use an old toothbrush, cleaned of course) Gently
rub, pat and air dry. Polishing cloths should be used periodically to
bring back the luster and shine. These can be purchased through us or
most any department store. Be certain to avoid rubbing the polishing
cloth on the AB Swarovski crystals as this can remove the coating. We
DO NOT recommend using any form of tarnish removing dips! If
you have any questions at all regarding the cleaning of your jewelry,
please feel free to contact us.
A
note about sterling silver:
Sterling
silver contains silver and tarnishes from the interaction of silver
and sulfides in the air. This is a natural and normal process called
oxidation. Clients who wear their jewelry often seem to have less of
a problem with this as the oils in the skin help reduce tarnishing.
Sometimes
the above methods of cleaning your jewelry may not get your piece as
shiny as you would prefer. You also may not have the time or patience.
One alternative is to have us clean it for you! We do charge $11.95
per strand. This includes: taking your bracelet apart, cleaning and
buffing each piece by hand, and restringing it. This would also be a
pefect time to update your bracelet if so desired. (Extra charges will
apply) Please contact us before you send your jewelry so that
we may know it is coming.
